Kenji was born in Saitama and grew up in Yokohama, Japan. He completed his Bachelor of Physical Education at the Nihon University and his Master of Exercise Physiology at the University of Tsukuba. After working as a research tech in industrial research institutes, Kenji completed his PhD in Neuroscience at the SOKENDAI under the supervision of Prof. Yuchio Yanagawa of the Gunma University. Kenji started his first postdoctoral training at the Baylor College of Medicine to study central regulation of energy metabolism by estrogen receptor alpha. In April of 2016, Kenji moved to Iowa and continue his postdoctoral training focusing on the roles of estrogen-related receptor alpha in behavioral and physiological regulations. He is busy everyday with science, gaming, cooking, and workout.
Uday Singh, PhD

Postdoctoral Research Scholar

Phone: (319) 384-3020
Email: uday-singh@uiowa.edu
Uday's hometown, Palampur is under the foothills of Himalayas (Himachal Pradesh), India. He completed Ph.D program in Life Sciences at NISER, Bhubaneswar (India). During his PhD his primary focus was on the neuroanatomical substrates regulating endocrine and rewards functions. There he worked on mammalian (rat and mouse) and nonmammalian vertebrates (Fish) species. He joined Department of Pharmacology in July, 2017. As a post-doctoral scholar, he is particularly interested to decipher the divergent neurocircuitry contorting sleep, cardiovascular and metabolic functions. By doing small animal surgeries in different mouse models, he is using state-of-the-art neuroscience tools to achieve his goals.
